Budget 2026: three things to plan around in 2027
Three things from the 2026 Budget worth building into your 2027 plan, if you run a founder-led, family or PE-backed business.

Marketing consultancy · Birmingham, working UK-wide
A board-level marketing director for founder-led and PE-backed businesses - part-time or for a project, without the cost of a full-time hire. Often called a fractional CMO.

I help founders, boards and marketing teams turn commercial ambition into marketing that delivers it. That means a clear growth diagnosis, brand positioning that sells the business properly, a go-to-market strategy that holds under pressure, and marketing and sales pulling the same way.
All of it grounded in marketing science and applied behavioural science. Evidence, not opinion.
I do this through Bonobo & Co, using Vector, my six-stage growth system - as an ongoing role or a one-off project.

AI and agentic marketing
Team structure and capability
Most marketing money goes on confusing the two. The work is knowing the difference - and turning it into growth.

The marketing consultancy
Senior marketing leadership for businesses whose growth has outrun their marketing capability. AI is harnessed and integrated throughout the work - never left to make the calls. Getting that balance right takes a board-level marketer with thousands of hours behind the judgement. One senior lead, a network of specialists, and the pace of a much larger team.
I work with a small number of businesses at a time.
How Bonobo & Co works
Workshops, courses and talks
Making the complexity of modern marketing practical. Workshops, a nine-session high-growth marketing programme, and talks on:
How brands actually grow
How B2B buyers really decide
Behavioural science in practice
Being found in AI search
For founders and marketing teams, in start-ups and scale-ups.

Vector
Growth needs momentum and direction.
Vector is built to do three things: grow revenue and profit, build the brand, and increase the value of the business. Six stages, in order, each one earning the right to the next - so the strategy, the spend and the measurement stay joined up as the business grows.
01
Diagnose the market
02
Decide the growth opportunity
03
Set the strategy
04
Create memory and momentum
05
Apply the messy middle
06
Measure and learn

"We didn't need another agency. We needed someone who would look at the business first and the marketing second, and say so when the answer wasn't the one we wanted. Anthony does both. He works at our pace, he doesn't need managing, and he's as comfortable in a board conversation about numbers as he is in a brand one. He's the first call when we've got a growth question."
Taj Heer, Chair and COO, Standbrella

I co-founded Big Cat in Birmingham in 2000 and spent two decades building it into one of the Midlands' leading independent agencies, before merging it to co-found Leopard Co, where I was Chief Marketing Officer. I sold my shareholding in September 2026 to build a portfolio career.
Along the way: NHS trusts and private hospitals, PE-backed scale-ups, professional and engineering services firms, national destination brands, clean-energy businesses and consumer groups. One long partnership ran alongside a restaurant group's growth from £8m to £49m turnover. Another launched a £150m city-centre destination, 95% of units let by opening day.
The evidence base is not borrowed. I developed CATERS, a behavioural framework, with Richard Shotton in 2020, and ran a five-year research collaboration with the University of Birmingham on how figurative language works in advertising.

What the evidence actually says about growth, what happens when you apply it, and where AI is changing the job. Written from twenty-five years of doing the work, not from a content calendar.
If you have a growth problem you cannot quite name yet, that is usually a good time to talk.
